Terms of Service

Last updated 21 October 2026

These terms apply when you use visitlantern.com or the Lantern analytics service. By creating an account you agree to them, on behalf of yourself or the business you sign up for.

The service

Lantern records visits to websites you add, and shows you where visitors came from, what they did and which of them converted. It includes the dashboard, the live view, funnels, goals, AI crawler reports, weekly email reports and the tracking script.

Your account

  • Give accurate details and keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms for yourself or your business.
  • Tell us at hello@visitlantern.com straight away if you think someone else has access to your account.

Plans, trial and billing

  • Free trial. New accounts get 7 days with every feature, with no card required. When the trial ends, choose a plan to keep using Lantern. If you don't, your dashboard pauses and tracking stops two days later. Your data is kept.
  • Plans. Plans are priced by traffic: the number of pageviews and goals across all your sites in a billing period. Starter includes 1 website; Growth includes up to 30. Prices are on our pricing page, in US dollars before tax.
  • Payment. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record and adds any sales tax, VAT or GST at checkout. Plans renew automatically every month or year, depending on the billing period you choose, until you cancel.
  • Changing plans. Upgrades and downgrades apply right away. Outside the trial, you're charged or credited the prorated difference for the rest of the billing period. During the trial, changes are free.
  • Price changes. We'll email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your plan. It applies from your next renewal.
  • Accounts created before billing started stay free, with no limits, unless we agree otherwise with you.

Traffic limits

We remind you when your sites have used 75% and 90% of your plan's events in a billing period. At 100%, your dashboard pauses until you upgrade or the next period starts. Tracking never stops because of a traffic limit, so you don't lose data. Upgrading opens the dashboard again straight away. Engagement pings (time on page, scroll depth) and AI crawler reports don't count towards your limit.

Cancelling

You can cancel any time from Manage billing on your billing page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for and then doesn't renew. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

Fair use

When you use Lantern, you agree to:

  • Only add the tracking script to websites you own or are authorised to manage
  • Tell your visitors about Lantern in your own privacy policy, and get any consent the law requires where your visitors are
  • Not send us sensitive personal data, such as names, email addresses, passwords, payment or health information, in page addresses, goal names or goal details
  • Not use Lantern to profile or track individuals across unrelated websites, or for any unlawful purpose
  • Not send fake or automated traffic to inflate numbers, overload the service, or try to get around limits or security
  • Not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, except where the law allows it

We may suspend accounts that break these rules or put the service at risk. Where we can, we'll warn you first.

Your data

The analytics data your websites send to Lantern is yours. We use it only to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting a site deletes its data. If you'd like a copy of your data or want your account deleted, email hello@visitlantern.com.

We may use aggregated, anonymous statistics that don't identify you, your sites or your visitors, such as total traffic across Lantern, to run and improve the service.

AI features

Some features, such as suggested funnels, use AI models. Their suggestions can be wrong; please check them before you rely on them. They see only totals, such as page paths and goal counts, never visitor-level data.

Availability

We work hard to keep Lantern fast and available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Ad blockers, browser settings and visitors who block scripts mean no analytics tool records every visit; serving the script from your own domain reduces, but doesn't remove, this. We may change or improve features over time; if we remove a major feature you pay for, we'll tell you in advance.

Liability

Lantern is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, revenue or data.

You're responsible for how you use Lantern on your websites, including your notices to visitors and any consent you collect, and you agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim is made against us because of it.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Lantern and cancel any time. We may end or suspend your account if you seriously break these terms. If we close Lantern entirely, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid time you couldn't use.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. We'll try to resolve any dispute informally first. If we can't, the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll update the date at the top, and email you before material changes take effect. If you keep using Lantern after that, the new terms apply.
